This past weekend, I took the time to revisit a Masterclass by Robin Roberts. The quote she gave, “When Fear Knocks, Let Faith Answer the Door,” prompted some reflection this weekend.
As I listened to the Masterclass, the words “Margin of Error” and “Getting ready for my suddenly” made all the sense to me.
Today, it’s all about getting outside of your comfort zone.
It’s also knowing your purpose.
On a side note, this past weekend was also a reflection on what we’ve done as a District, as I completed a successful term as the District Director for Toastmasters International, District 77.
I now have another title to add: “Immediate Past District Director.”
That may not seem important to you; however, seeing the District grow and adding value to others is part of my purpose.
The journey I took over the last year was a testament to the words “When Fear Knocks, Let Faith Answer the Door.”
I didn’t fear the role; however, it was through faith that I made it through.
You know the words and the phrase associated with Philippians 4:13: “Through faith I can accomplish all things.”
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Knowing that faith is an important part of my life, I have learned not to rest on my laurels or take things for granted.
One of the many reasons people join Toastmasters is to put their fears in check when fear knocks and let faith answer the door.
I’ve had and continue to have various opportunities to speak; however, being a District Director and being with like-minded people is an awesome experience.
One of the benefits I have learned over the last year has been venturing outside my comfort zone.
Every month, each of us as District Directors were challenged by our Region Advisors to do better in making our District distinguished. As I review the Toastmasters Dashboard for 2025-2026, we did very well. Although we didn’t attain the status of a distinguished district, we gave it our best.
If you understand the Serenity Prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
There were things I could not change, yet I accepted the fact that some clubs would not make it, regardless of how hard we pushed them.
The bottom line is knowing that I gave it my best; that was all that mattered.
This week is my reminder that “When Fear Knocks, Let Faith Answer the Door.”
As you recently celebrated the Fourth of July, I took a moment to reflect on how far I have come in life.
I took some time to reflect, knowing that I didn’t get here by myself and reflecting on all those who have helped me along the way.
I can look back and say that “When Fear Knocks, Let Faith Answer the Door.”
Although the “Margin of Error” and “Getting ready for my suddenly” all made sense to me, I have learned to face my fears head-on.
Today, I challenge you to think about your “Margins of Error” and “Getting ready for your suddenly.” The question is, what will you do? “When Fear Knocks, will you let faith answer the door?

“My accident -15 centimeters right and nothing would have happened; 10 centimeters left and I would not be here.” Robert Kubica, Polish Race Car Driver

Curtis, thank you!!
Diane,
Thank you as well!

Robert Kubica came back to drive in Formula 1 in 2019 to help the Williams Racing team afford a driver and improve their ailing car. I was at the 2019 German Grand Prix, the last to date, and saw him score his last F1 point, and the only point for Williams that year. I wonder if faith drove him (no pun intended), when he had every reason to fear his F1 career was over.

Greetings, Who Knew! Small world that today you and I have a connection with people (Robert Kubica).
Thank you for sharing this amazing information! Have a great week ahead.

My friend, my Mother used to say to me, ‘Do your very best but God is in control. Do not worry about the outcome. It is in God’s hands.’
Dave,
Great advice, as I know my mother always prayed for us. Gods got it!
Blessings!
Have a great week ahead.

McKinley,
Even though fear is knocking, faith stands at the door refusing to open.
McKinley,
Thank you for continuously sharing such profound and thought provoking statements. I had not heard “When fear knocks, let faith answer the door.” Nor did I know that one of Dr. King’s many memorable statements was “faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” It reminds me of my grandmother often saying: “God will make a way out of no way.” It makes me happy and grateful any time something brings my grandmother to my mind.
