First and foremost, before I write any words tied to “Reflection” or go any further. I want to say thank you for allowing me the opportunity to connect with you each Monday through my blogs.
Although some of my loyal readers send me emails or texts and may not always use the portal for their comments, I’m forever humbled by your support.
My goal is to add value to each person who reads McKinley’s Thoughts.
As we enter the fifth day of 2026, it’s my prayer that everyone who needed time over the holidays to do some reflective thinking was able to discern properly about how the year 2025 ended for them.
I’m reminded of a passage that says, “Behold, I make all things new.”
Revelation 21:5 – Bible Gateway
Without being inquisitive, maybe you decided to make something new in 2026?
Each of us has various seasons in our lives, where we make new relationships or do something completely different in our lives. Therefore, within our seasons of life and we sometimes don’t fully understand the impact until years later.
“Behold, I Make all Things New.”
It’s a New Year’s Reflection!
As I think about the topic “Reflection,” there are various things that run through my mind.
One of them is the January 4, 2021, Insurrection on Capitol Hill and all those who continue to receive a pardon from the current President.
It is a message that signals it’s okay to do bad things.
Only time will tell how much of the January 6, 2021, Insurrection on Capitol Hill is going to be taught in high school as part of the curriculum.
NYS lawmakers push bill mandating public schools teach lessons on Jan. 6 Capitol riots
Nowadays, as our Children gain their inheritance as adults, we continue to rely on our parents to teach them what is right, in the various cultures in the world.
What I see is that, in my opinion, as a nation, is that we continue to forget our past lessons as history continues to repeat itself.
If you have ever watched the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life,” we all have a specific inheritance tied to us!
Maybe it’s just me wanting to see everyone succeed in life and have a plan.
We all have our angels watching over us, as I know the many prayers my parents have prayed for me.
It is a wonderful life when I think about it and look in the mirror.
We all have a specific inheritance that is due to us; however, it’s up to each one of us to pursue the dreams tied to it.
The question for you is, what reflections do you see when you look in the mirror?
Are you going to be a “George and Lasso the Moon”
“You want the moon? Just say the word, and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. George Bailey, It’s a Wonderful Life, 1946”
This week, you don’t have to answer; however, I would challenge you, and myself included, to reflect on how far you have come and where you are going in 2026.

Once again your new note made me reflect on my past and experience! I know change is good but I am just happy that I can be seen and heard everyday until I am not able to be seen or heard again! Thanks for sharing all your weekly thoughts! It has made a difference in daily life as I reflect on the good and bad things in this world!
Ralph,
Your words humbled me this morning. You and I have seen plenty together through our times in the military. I appreciate your comments and support over the years!
