Peaks and Pits

Peaks and Pits

Today, where are your thoughts taking you these days?

Are your thoughts taking you to the peaks or the pits, knowing that everything is only temporary?

This morning, for example, I’m reminded of the Prodigal Son who experienced both peaks and pits and how adversity can make a significant change in your life.

Although it may not be that you’re in dire straits, or have stooped that low, we all have or will at some point have something which will become a significant emotional event.

I’m praying that your thoughts today are taking you to the peaks!

It’s interesting listening to various conversations or even close friends who tend to have so much negativity about the world around us.

Each of us will get a dose of pits by listening to the news or watching television.  We can see and hear negative ads or disturbing information happening around us.

Ironically, on the positive side, those like me who use a gratitude journal on a daily basis can see all the peaks happening daily.

As I continue to write consistently in my journal daily, I can experience the value of each day of my life when I take time to reflect and seek them out.

The phrase “You can’t stumble if you’re still standing” suggests that one must be proactive and not rely on others to guide them.

How proactive are you in searching out those peaks in your life?

As we are more than halfway through the year, have you been celebrating those peaks in your life?

In questioning where you are in life, are you making those conscious efforts to keep moving forward, or are you standing still, using the victim mentality as a crutch?

Are you aware that our brain’s ability to register behavior without conscious attention is another fascinating aspect of neuroscience and mental health?

It’s when we hit that low period in our lives with various mental illnesses that we must apply empathy to our partners, friends, and family members.

Sometimes people will say things to us to win or gain our favor or appease, or please themselves.  However, we must look beyond the surface when they are asking for help.

We all must go through trials and tribulations or a bit of adversity at times; however, we can’t afford to let those times keep us in the pit.

I’m sure each of us has a testimony about how our faith turned things around for you.

We all can have them if we look deep enough.

As I think about the story of Joseph being thrown into the pit by his brothers, left to die, something remarkable happened that he was able to see peaks after that incident.

Genesis 37:24 and they took him and threw him into the pit. Now the pit was empty, with no water in it.

Today, I challenge you to think about where your thoughts are taking you these days, knowing that everything is only temporary.

  1. Everything in life is temporary, but the impact we leave can be permanent.
Tonight, I plan to give a Toastmasters speech titled “The Journey of the Visionary Communication Path.”
How to make the dream come true
    How to deal with difficulties

Everyone has a passion and a dream—but how do we make that dream come true?
My passion is art, and my dream has always been to become a professional artist.

Through my art, I tell my stories. I paint subjects that have inspired me throughout my life. Over the years, I’ve created a body of work that reflects my journey, and I’ve now documented it in five art books.

One day, I will be gone—but my books will remain on Amazon, available to those who love my art and the stories behind it. That is the legacy I hope to leave.

    1. Caroline,
Good evening, what an honor it was to hear your story tonight. The passion you possess was clearly articulated tonight as you spoke of art and the various books you have written. Thank you for your insights and support. You are helping make dreams come true.
